Halo 3 Launch Party at UTD was conducted on 6th October 2007. Three weeks of effort was needed to organize this event. It was the first Microsoft event at UTD, so it was very exciting for all of us, we put our best effort to create the Microsoft technology awareness among the students, talked to various professors teaching VB, .NET, C# etc. and had email communication with professors teaching game development. Initially the publicity of the event was done through word of mouth as it was not possible to reach every one. Later it helped us a lot to form a students’ organization - MISA and being the president it was much convenient for me to work in a team. We printed three different types of flyers and distributed among 4 teams to hang these in all the seven schools at UTD, although I had to coordinate with each team during the night. We had pizza, beverages, chocolates and cookies arranged for the event. We advertised through Comet Calendar, Comet Cafe TV, Electronic advertisement board and UTD Radio. We took permission from the Police dept., informed the security and A/V dept, Dept. of Event Management etc. for the event. The entire MISA team helped me a lot right from the beginning and esp. during the event. A large portion of our audience was diverted by China's National Day Celebration at UTD on 6th Oct'07 and Texas State Fair. Again a small portion of audience didn't show up because of the rain. However the total count was 46. The Halo 3 game competition went fabulous and the winners got several prizes such as Microsoft wireless keyboard, backpack, Xbox 360 game DVDs and several gifts & goodies.
